As I reacquaint myself with my blog, I thought I'd show you what's happening in my garden.
Since Mr. and Mrs Staggs left, we've had rain just about every day. No complete washouts but daily rain. Like us, maybe the sky is sad that they are gone. To say we had a wonderful time with these special friends is an understatement. Even Harry and Weasley were depressed when they realized it was 'just us' here in the house!
I'd love to spend more time tending to my garden but work, life, mostly allows for basic upkeep so perennials rule! The deep purple of the Siberian Iris are always so welcoming. This mound is out front near our mailbox. Last year I was able to divide the plant and scatter them in the backyard too. Tall, slender pops of purple - love them!
I have Columbine that are still hanging in there.
And Tradescantia (spiderwort) that is just starting to appear.
My Scotch Broom 'Lena' is a ball of fire.
Scented geranium - yum!
The peonies are ready to pop.
As are the rose ground cover and my great-grandmother's climbing rose bush. One goal for the garden this year is to find something for this rose to climb on. It blooms just once a season but grows and grows and grows. It is so easy to make cuttings of this bush and I love the idea of sharing this plant that is so old, with other gardeners. My mother, aunt, sister and I all have this plant growing in our yards. When it blooms, I'll share more pictures.
It's also about texture in the garden. We have a lot of shade so hostas and ferns grow really well.
And, for better or worse, lemon balm is everywhere. I was thinking of drying it and putting it in sachets. Any other ideas??
I love the color and texture of this tree trunk.
Thanks for taking a garden walk with me. It's been nice reconnecting.
